Vertical Aerospace unveiled Valo, its next-generation eVTOL aircraft succeeding the VX4 prototype, featuring a redesigned airframe, under-floor battery placement, revised wing and propeller architecture, and upgraded materials aimed at full certifiable redundancy. Valo targets up to 100 miles of range and 150 mph cruise speed, launching with 4 seats and a design path to 6, plus what the company describes as the largest cargo capacity in its class. Vertical plans to build seven certification aircraft in the UK and pursue concurrent type certification with the UK Civil Aviation Authority and EASA, targeting certification in 2028 ahead of commercial service. CEO Stuart Simpson called Valo "the aircraft that turns electric flight into a commercial reality -- clean, quiet, fast and engineered for everyday service." The program is projected to support more than 2,000 UK jobs and contribute £3 billion annually to the UK economy by 2035, according to the company.
