Plain-English Explainer
SC E-19 is EASA's special condition for electric and hybrid propulsion systems. EASA developed it to provide performance-based airworthiness objectives for propulsion architectures that are not fully addressed by legacy combustion-engine certification specifications.
It is directly relevant to electric-engine and hybrid-electric propulsion certification in Europe and is referenced within EASA's VTOL compliance material for electric/hybrid lift-thrust units.
EASA lists SC E-19 Issue 01 as finally published and not superseded. Associated Level 2 means of compliance are being published separately; EASA's own page distinguishes MOCs that are final from those that have completed consultation but remain pending final publication.
