TC APPLICATION ACCEPTANCE REPORTED / PRE-TC
Current assessment

Company-origin reporting says CAAC East China accepted W280's TC application on 1 September 2026. Investor and company disclosures document first flight in July 2025. Application acceptance establishes entry into review, not a Type Certificate; the current regulator acceptance letter was not independently reviewed.

Next gate

Confirm configuration-specific certification basis and compliance plans, expand the flight envelope and substantiate compliance before regulator verification.

AIRCRAFT & SYSTEMS

Technical overview

W280 is WeFly's five-seat winged battery-electric eVTOL for intra-city and regional travel. Company-origin reporting describes an accepted CAAC Type Certificate application.

Image: WeFly-supplied first-flight imagery reproduced in INCE Capital's 15 July 2025 disclosure. It does not establish pilot occupancy, tested payload or approved performance.

Configuration & architecture

The manufacturer describes an integrated electric-propulsion and flight-control architecture. Detailed public evidence of battery segmentation, propulsion-channel independence and degraded-flight performance remains limited.

The official product site lists 2.8 t maximum takeoff mass, while the September 2026 company-origin application report gives 3.18 t. Configuration or specification-basis differences are unresolved; neither value is normalized as verified MTOW here.

PROGRAM EXECUTION

Development, test & industrialization

WeFly and investor INCE Capital report first flight on 14 July 2025. A report attributed to WeFly and published on 2 September 2026 states that CAAC East China accepted the W280 TC application on 1 September.

The same report describes transition-flight work in the first half of 2026. These remain company-reported milestones; no issued Type Certificate is established by the reviewed material.

Operations & market

The proposed five-seat aircraft targets dense metropolitan clusters and regional connections. Announced interest and design range do not establish approved commercial transport.

Open gates & dependencies

Near-term dependencies are reconciliation of configuration/mass, authority-confirmed certification scope, compliance demonstration and evidence of installation-level safety. Aircraft, production and operator permissions remain separate.
