Redundancy Approach
Volant describes eight electric motors and a multi-redundant propulsion system, including reported single-rotor-failure test scenarios. Certification-level common-mode and system-safety detail remains subject to CAAC evidence.
Range / Speed
Manufacturer-published current figures: 200–400 km flight range, 235 km/h cruising speed, 2,500 kg MTOW, 500 kg commercial payload and six seats. Final delivered specifications remain subject to the approved configuration.

VE25-100 is in active CAAC type certification. Volant reports that the G-1 certification basis and project-specific certification plan were completed in April 2025, followed by development-batch aircraft flight testing, piloted flight and transition testing. No Type Certificate has been identified.
Complete conformity and CAAC compliance demonstrations under the project-specific certification plan on the certification configuration.
VE25-100 is a six-seat winged battery-electric VTOL aircraft aimed at regional and intercity passenger transport. Volant’s current material describes eight electric motors and a 200–400 km range, with 2,500 kg MTOW and 500 kg commercial payload.
The program remains PRE-EIS. Those figures are manufacturer-published and no CAAC Type Certificate has been identified.
Volant’s current aircraft material describes eight electric motors in a distributed propulsion architecture for vertical takeoff and wing-borne cruise. The company also describes multi-redundant propulsion and reports single-rotor-failure test scenarios.
PropulsionWatch treats those statements as manufacturer evidence; the complete certification-level common-mode, battery and failure-containment architecture remains subject to regulator-verifiable evidence.
CAAC East China accepted the VE25-100 Type Certificate application in September 2023, and the first certification review meeting followed in October 2024. Volant states that the G-1 certification basis was established and the project-specific certification plan signed in April 2025.
AC101, the first development-batch aircraft, rolled out in May 2025. Volant subsequently reported unrestricted free flight, piloted flight, airworthiness-review activity, powerplant and full-aircraft wind-tunnel testing, and a piloted transition flight. These are development and compliance-building milestones; no issued Type Certificate has been identified.
The intended market is piloted regional and intercity passenger transport. Orders, cooperation agreements and demonstration activity are not evidence of entry into commercial service.
Public evidence still needs to establish the final certification design and regulator-accepted compliance results. Production approval, individual-aircraft airworthiness and operator authorization would remain separate gates.

Evidence boundary: company-published performance and test claims are not certified performance; G-1 and the project-specific certification plan are not a Type Certificate.
