VT35 is an active CAAC type-certification project in certification-basis definition and continued flight-test/design work. The CAAC approvals held by the separate EH216-S model do not apply to VT35.
Agree the aircraft-specific certification basis and compliance plan, then manufacture conforming certification prototypes for CAAC compliance demonstration.
VT35 is EHang’s two-seat, pilotless, battery-electric lift-and-cruise eVTOL. Unlike the multicopter EH216-S, VT35 uses tandem wings, dedicated vertical-lift propellers and a separate cruise propeller for longer wing-borne missions.
PropulsionWatch classifies the aircraft as certification-stage and PRE-EIS. No VT35 Type Certificate has been issued.
EHang publishes eight lift propellers and one cruise propeller, autonomous operation, 200 km range and 216 km/h maximum speed. Those figures are manufacturer specifications rather than certified operating performance.
Public material does not yet disclose enough aircraft-specific compliance evidence to characterize the final redundancy, battery isolation and failure-containment implementation beyond the distributed architecture.
EHang’s Q1 2026 update said VT35 remained in certification-basis definition with CAAC discussions covering special conditions, safety objectives and performance requirements. The company also reported continued test flights, avionics work and preparation for certification-prototype manufacturing.
These are program-progress statements, not issuance of a Type Certificate.
EHang positions VT35 for longer-range, intercity pilotless passenger missions. No public evidence reviewed establishes approved VT35 commercial passenger service.
EH216-S operator approvals and designated-site operations must not be transferred to VT35.
Immediate dependencies are completion of the VT35 certification basis, regulator-accepted means of compliance, conforming aircraft, safety and systems evidence, and CAAC verification. Production and operator approvals would remain separate steps after type certification.

Evidence boundary: EH216-S certificates are model-specific and do not establish VT35 approval.
