PERSONAL POWERED-LIFT / LSA PATHWAY PLANNED
Current assessment

AIR identifies a pending FAA light-sport pathway under MOSAIC. The FAA accepts F3840-26 for powered-lift within stated limits. Rulemaking and accepted standards do not constitute an individual AIR ONE airworthiness certificate or a conventional Type Certificate.

Next gate

Show compliance of the intended production configuration with applicable Part 22/FAA-accepted standards and resolve control-interface/pilot requirements.

AIRCRAFT & SYSTEMS

Technical overview

AIR ONE is a two-seat personal electric VTOL aircraft. The current product reference describes a fixed-wing coaxial quadcopter with folding wings for storage, rather than a nacelle-tilting air taxi.

Configuration & architecture

Eight motors are arranged in four coaxial pairs and supplied by four lithium-ion battery packs. The manufacturer describes fly-by-wire controls, an airframe parachute and fixed landing gear.

Motor count and pack count do not independently demonstrate fault containment. The technical safety case must establish control authority and energy availability after relevant failures.

PROGRAM EXECUTION

Development, test & industrialization

AIR's July 2025 release identifies MOSAIC as its intended light-sport route. The current product page still presents aircraft certification as pending.

FAA's current light-sport page names F3840-26 as an accepted powered-lift integration standard. Its title also mentions multicopters, but that wording is broader than the FAA's accepted powered-lift scope.

Operations & market

The program targets personal ownership. Intended pilot licensing and simplified-control features require separate checks against current FAA rules and accepted means of compliance; manufacturer marketing is not approval of unrestricted personal or commercial operations.

Open gates & dependencies

Eligibility, production conformity, complete aircraft compliance and the applicable special airworthiness certificate remain gates. FAA limitations on simplified-flight-control declarations must be addressed rather than inferred from the manufacturer's Fly-by-Intent label.

Sources & evidence reviewed

AIR — AIR ONE configuration and LSA pathway — reviewed 27 October 2026. Current product page: two-seat fixed-wing coaxial quadcopter, eight motors and four battery packs. FAA LSA/MOSAIC pathway is pending. Manufacturer numbers are not certified performance.

AIR — MOSAIC pathway announcement — 2025-07-24. Manufacturer's intended MOSAIC pathway. A rule change does not certify AIR ONE; current FAA acceptance limitations control applicability.

FAA — Light-sport accepted consensus standards — reviewed 27 October 2026. FAA acceptance for statements/certificates on or after 24 July 2026, including F3840-26 powered-lift and referenced functional standards.

FAA — Powered-lift Part 22 accepted means of compliance — reviewed 27 October 2026. Official accepted-MOC table. F3840 title includes multicopters but FAA acceptance is for powered-lift. Simplified-flight-control declaration eligibility must follow the FAA's stated limitations.
